Digital world is continually shifting and transforming as new technology emerges. All sectors are expected to embrace digital transformation and become more agile and efficient than ever before, including financial sector. As a matter of fact the digital finance has brought benefits towards the prosperity of humans in emerging economies. Its contribution in enabling and expanding access for people to transact especially for low-income families and those living in rural has the potential to support them in improving their productivity and performance and therefore can reduce the number of poverty.

Meanwhile world poverty is found in many Muslim world from the west of Africa in Mauritania to the east in Indonesia, from the north in Kazakhstan to the south in Comoros Islands. The high level of poverty among Muslims countries has obviously been weakening the position of Muslim World, aggravated with backwardness at the education sector, inferiority in science and technology, plus less capacity of suprastructure and human resources.

As part to answer these various problems, the 2nd International Conference of Zakat (ICONZ) aims at bringing scholars and practitioners together to discuss zakat and the development of digital finance. The presence of digital finance for zakat can offer a more transparent, effective and efficient zakat management by easing the mustahik, muzakki and zakat institution have access to payments, distributions and collection of zakat. Therefore, more exploration related to mechanism of digital finance of zakat  is needed in order to develop a solution related to precised comprehension of the Fiqh, management models, the mechanism of cooperation in zakat digital finance practices, and other concerned issues that will need to answer.

This conference will be held on 15th - 16th November 2018 in Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
