Abstract

Water is a vital human need, the most important health initiative in the world, and one of the key factors in urban-rural socio-economic development. This research aims to analyze whether zakat collection has the potential to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) regarding household distribution and access to basic services across 34 provinces in the years 2019-2023. We use simple regression to analyze the strength of the relationship, predict values, identify patterns, and calculate coefficients using the EViews 12 tool. Zakat collection has a significant impact on providing household access to drinking water, access to household sources of drinking water from pumps, and access to household sources of drinking water from both protected and unprotected springs. Meanwhile, zakat collection does not have a significant impact on household access to piped drinking water. The implications of this research for achieving equitable zakat distribution suggest that the government, along with stakeholders in each province, needs to build social safety net mechanisms through collaboration with government institutions in the social sector.
