Main Article Content
Abstract
The management of zakat as an instrument for empowering the economic conditions of poor communities in rural areas faces various challenges, particularly regarding the optimization of zakat collection and distribution. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of zakat management policies in Subang Regency in supporting poverty alleviation through comprehensive empowerment programs. A qualitative method is employed in this study, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving local policies, zakat management institutions, and beneficiary communities. The results indicate that regional regulations and local government support, such as the regent’s circular letter and the establishment of Zakat Collection Units (UPZ), have successfully increased zakat collection and expanded its reach. Programs such as Subang Taqwa, Subang Sehat, and Subang Cerdas demonstrate that zakat can play a role not only as an economic aid but also as an instrument for improving quality of life in areas such as education, health, and social welfare. These findings emphasize the importance of structured policies and transparency in zakat management to maintain public trust, which has a positive impact on the sustainability of poverty alleviation programs in rural areas
