Main Article Content
Abstract
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam that must be implemented by every Muslim who meets certain conditions. In theory, zakat not only functions as a religious obligation, but also as an instrument of wealth distribution to create social justice. However, although zakat has a very significant role in the people's economy, the challenges in its management are still quite large, especially related to the efficiency of its collection and distribution. This is where the role of information technology (IT) is very important. Technology offers solutions that can overcome many obstacles in zakat management, making it more efficient, transparent, and easily accessible to the public. This research aims to analyze how the application of information technology can improve efficiency and transparency in zakat management in Indonesia. The methodology used is deductive methodology, this research uses data collection techniques through library research, namely by collecting information from various books and journal articles that discuss technology and zakat management. Digital systems also allow for more transparent management of zakat funds. For example, zakat institutions can use a technology-based accounting system to manage and report fund receipts and expenditures clearly and in detail. The financial reports generated from such systems can be accessed directly by the public, which provides a more accurate picture of how zakat funds are managed.
