The Role Of Zakat In Social Welfare And Community Development: A Literature Review On The Contribution Of Islamic Education

Abstract

Zakat as one of the main pillars in the Islamic economic system has a crucial role in promoting social welfare and community development. This study aims to explore and analyze the role of zakat in improving social welfare and community development by highlighting the contribution of Islamic education in optimizing the function of zakat. Through a systematic literature review approach, this study examines various studies and related literature that link zakat with positive effects on society, as well as how Islamic education shapes the understanding and implementation of zakat effectively. The findings of this review indicate that Islamic education plays a significant role in increasing awareness and understanding of the obligation of zakat, as well as in directing the community to utilize zakat as a tool to overcome social and economic inequality. Islamic education not only helps in internalizing the values ??of zakat, but also in developing effective strategies for zakat management that impacts wider social welfare. The results of this study recommend increasing the integration between Islamic education and zakat programs, as well as developing supportive policies to maximize the impact of zakat in community development. This study provides valuable insights for policy makers, zakat institutions, and academics in designing better strategies to optimize the role of zakat in achieving sustainable social welfare goals.
