Abstract
The development of the Islamic philanthropy movement, initially seen as a competitor to the government, has begun to find its antithesis. The government, through BAZNAS RI (Badan Amil Zakat Nasional Republik Indonesia), continues to collaborate in efforts to alleviate poverty and improve the welfare of the community. This has been followed by local governments, including the Tasikmalaya Regency, where the Islamic philanthropy movement has gained momentum, marked by the increase in zakat collection by BAZNAS Tasikmalaya. This growth has directly benefited many people, especially those in need within the zakat recipients (asnaf). This study aims to analyze the Islamic philanthropy movement in Tasikmalaya Regency, which is deeply rooted in the traditions of santri, kyai, and pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). The presentation uses Bourdieu’s theory and a qualitative descriptive methodology to provide a deeper understanding of the Islamic philanthropy movement.
